We’ve been on the island for some time already and as many newcomers, initially, we asked the same questions:

  • Where on the island can I buy organic/grass-fed meat?
  • Where on the island can I buy raw cheese or raw milk?
  • Where on the island can I buy sourdough bread?
  • What’s the water drinking situation here and where to source water?

In this article, we share what we’ve found so you can save time.

Where on the island can I buy organic/grass-fed meat?

Currently, we order from Omnivoro. They deliver it to a spot near Palma where it has to be picked up. As many people mentioned, there is not enough grass to feed the animals so the situation is complex.

We’ve heard that there are farmers that do grass-fed meat, but they don’t have the certificates simply because they’re expensive. We haven’t found them yet, but if we will, we will update the article.

Also, please remember there is a difference between grass-fed and grass-finished.

Where on the island can I buy raw cheese or raw milk?

Good question, we don’t know yet.

Where on the island can I buy sourdough bread?

The best one we’ve found is Palma Bread, but it’s a bit pricy. Clearly, there is a big demand for good bread, but no one is providing it.

What’s the water drinking situation here and where to source water?

It’s complicated.

Most simply buy bottled water which is not ideal. Both from the environmental standpoint and microplastic contamination.

Tap water is just recycled sewage water because there is not enough spring water on the island (especially in the high season).

A regular water filter won’t do as they don’t filter everything. Many of them claim more than they do.
